Established in 2010, husband and wife team Marc and Leigh Carr are Directors of Carrs Windows while Leigh’s sister Kim works as the Office Administrator.
 
Marc, a fully-qualified Joiner by trade, had a run of bad luck in 2010 when he broke his leg not once but twice! It meant a long time off work and while recovering at his parent’s home in Addingham he got thinking about all the old houses and cottages in the area. Marc noticed that replacing the doors and windows on such buildings required specific joinery knowledge and set about researching this further. He found a real need in the area for a reliable company with a good knowledge of Yorkshire and the challenges that come with the region such as the weather, protected areas and difficult access.
 
Having been saving for a house deposit for a number of years, Marc persuaded Leigh that they should instead invest their savings in a workshop and the required equipment, and much to everyone’s surprise, Leigh said yes! 
 
The business launched later in 2010 with a small workshop, Marc making doors and windows and Leigh working in the office alongside her full-time employment as an Office Manager. The business now operates in Skipton – Gateway to the Dales.
 
Marc can still be found on site helping customers and fitting products but there is now a team of eleven alongside him, from highly-skilled craftsmen turning solid timber into beautiful bespoke doors in the workshop to Kim & Jodie in the office who take enquiries and answers questions.
 
The Carr’s ethos is simple; to provide high quality bespoke doors and windows at honest prices.  They understand that our glorious region can take a battering from the weather and that’s why the company slogan is “made in the Dales to withstand the Dales” because Carrs products are built to last. 
 
Marc qualified in Joinery from the Leeds College of Building in 2005. He also holds a GQA L2 in Glass Related Operations, and in Fenestration Installation as well as being a Certified FENSA Installer.
 
(Oh and by the way, she may have had to wait a little longer, but Leigh did finally get her own home too, complete with Carrs Windows products throughout!)
